Description

The Graph Tech TUSQ XL Flat Bottom 42 mm Strat Slotted Nut is a great upgrade for guitars with Fender style nuts but with flat bottom, 42 mm wide slots. It is pre-slotted for a quick and easy installation. TUSQ XL is impregnated with PTFE for permanent lubrication ensuring strings don't bind in their slots during bending or tremolo use, improving tuning stability and reducing string breakage. The TUSQ XL material is harmonically rich and transfers vibrations efficiently to the guitar, as a man-made material it is consistent from piece to piece with no hidden soft spots associated with bone. Graph Tech nuts are supplied slightly oversized to allow for final fit and shaping (material works easily with fine sandpaper).

Graph Tech PT-5042-00

I bought this Graph Tech Black TUSQ XL to replace the nut on my Squier Contemporary HSS Strat. If your wondering what model it fits, it perfectly fits this one #0320322573, and it would also fit the other contemporary's from the same series of those years with 12" radius fretboards. Not sure if it fits the newer contemporary's that are on sale now. This nut is for a 12" Radius fretboard. The original nut on the guitar slots had been filed down too low, and the fat 'E' String (6) was buzzing and hitting off the 1st fret for being so low. I had to replace it when i purchased the guitar 2nd hand. All i had to do was thin down the width of the nut as it wasn't slipping into the slot on the guitar, just took a skim down and checked every time until it was tight fitting, and it had a small over hang, and was filed down until perfectly fit. I didnt have to reduce the height or base of the nut, its all perfect.

Great fit very little shaping required

This nut fit quite well out of the pack on my 2014 Mexican Telecaster, it took very little shaping and filing to get it to seat properly. When it came to rounding off sharp edges and slot height filing the material was quite nice to work with.
