The alternative to rubber.
I had a slightly leaning (not parallel to the strings) bridge pickup on my Strat and I thought that tapered springs would cure the issue. It did to an extent though it made me realise that springs really are a better alternative mounting system to rubber. The height adjustment procedure seems more responsive...less 'spongey' and I imagine will last longer due to lack of perish.
