This official Gibson 498T Hot Alnico Treble / Bridge Humbucker Pickup is a high output version of their 490T with enhanced midrange and high frequencies, the 498T humbucker combines the powerful response of the alnico 5 magnet with the additional balanced windings on each coil to put emphasis on the pickup's upper midrange frequencies for an increased crunch and sustain. Featuring shielded four conductor wiring for series, parallel or split coil operation and is fully wax potted to eliminate microphonic feedback. The pole pieces are aligned a little further apart to accommodate for the spacing of the strings at the bridge, which is different to that of the neck, this helps to produce powerful leads and thick rhythm without sacrificing single note definition.
